1.(Junior) Research Analyst
The China Digital Center of Competence (CoC) supports the Digital service line withinthe Business Technology Office practice. It serves as a centralized hub of Digitalexperts that houses key proprietary knowledge assets of the service line.

Who You’ll Work With
PI CoC is part of Global PE/PI practice of McKinsey & Co. The practice focuses on serving Principal Investor (“PI”) clients across 3 client segments: Diversified Conglomerates, Private Equity Firms and Sovereign Wealth Funds. The practice has alarge number of PI-affiliated partners/APs and associates across Asia, who workclosely with clients during their due diligence transaction and value capture process.
Our level of support to clients in this area has been increasing over the past years.With this in mind, Global PE/PI practice developed Principal Investors PI CoC in 2008.The objective of PI CoC is to dramatically increase the speed with which principalinvestors expertise & knowledge – both Firm-internal and external – is delivered anddeployed into both due diligence engagements and principal investors portfolio work.The aim is for PI CoC to become a core global expertise hub for the PE/PI practice.
What You’ll Do
PI CoC is looking for a (Junior) Research Analyst with a background in financialmarkets, accounting etc. The Analyst would be expected to spend the first 6 monthsin establishing a good understanding of the Private Equity/Principal Investors marketand support teams with either market data about the PE space and/or support DueDiligence engagements across the spectrum of pre-DD, DD and post-dealmanagement, based out of the office. Increasingly so, the analyst may then becomepart of a client service team (CST) and eventually be staffed on-site with a CST mostof his/her. In addition, he/she will contribute to knowledge management andknowledge building efforts. The Analyst will be located in Shanghai, China, however,he/she should be open to travel after the onboarding phase, to serve clients onsite asappropriate.
The candidate will be hired as Junior Analyst or Analyst, based on previousexperience and background.
The (Junior) Analyst will be expected to perform the following roles:
Support client service teams and partners of the practice on clientdevelopment efforts, pre due diligence & due diligence projects andpost-deal projects, e.g. 100-day-plans, as much as doing research into thePE/PI industry to understand market trends and key success factors andfollow the latest developments.
Assess/problem solve research requirements (primary vs. secondary)and determine appropriate timely and cost effective research approach
Support on analytics and provide quick modeling support
Present findings to the requester in a presentable way
Contribute to knowledge initiatives e.g. on the PE industry or with regards to codification of Due Diligence best practices & sector knowledge.
Develop investor-friendly templates of industry outlooks, creating industry insight capture templates suitable for PE/PI client use
Codify Due Diligence end products, creating a database of “off the shelf” information for publication on firm intranet/PI CoC website.
This role will have a China focus, yet provide global exposure (cross geography, crossindustry) and opportunity to build deep functional capability around the PE/PI industryand due diligence topics.

The primary job responsibilities of the (Sr.) Analyst would fall into three categories:
Collecting, analyzing and synthesizing information that serve as critical inputs to clientservice teams, particularly within the Digital area;
Developing expertise in Digitaland managing proprietary knowledge assets of the service line and
Staffing onclient engagements as a knowledge professional, either remote or on-site. Suchon-site staffing could be domestic or global in nature.
As an Analyst focused on Digital capabilities, you are expected to:
